Smith earns verification of its ability to meet stringent security requirements
Houston, TX (June 6, 2019) –Smith, a global distributor of electronic components and semiconductors, today announces its certification to the TAPA FSR Level A standard at its warehouse in Hong Kong. The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) has implemented Facility Security Requirements (FSR) that define the baseline standards required to maintain supply chain security throughout the industry.
Smith’s headquarters in Houston achieved TAPA FSR Level A certification in 2018. Obtaining this certification in Hong Kong now expands Smith’s global security measures pertaining to the handling, warehousing, and shipping of electronic components. Ensuring the proper storage and handling of HVTT (high-value theft targeted) assets, such as electronics and electronic components, is a top priority for Smith.
In addition to upholding the highest security measures at its facilities, Smith’s Asian distribution center has been validated to be in compliance with C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) security requirements that solidify the company’s commitment to keeping the supply chain free from dangerous components. Adherence to the industry’s best practices for maintaining global supply chain security remains a key focus of Smith’s operations department.
